Hi, I’m Alexis Allen, and I’m passionate about design.
I’m a certified FileMaker developer based in Toronto, Canada, the founder of FM Design University, and the president of Hyperspace Data Solutions, Inc. For over 20 years, clients around the world have hired me to create FileMaker apps that work hard—and look great too.
I transform user experiences that are error-prone, draining, and repetitive, into ones that are accurate, energizing, and productive.
I’m excited to share my passion for design with you. I’ll help you learn how you can harness the power of interface design to revolutionize yourusers’ experience.
I have presented several times on the topic of UI design at the FileMaker developer’s conference in the United States. My most recent session was given in Orlando, Florida, and was titled “Breaking Out of List and Form View: Workflow-based design for the modern world.”

My signature course, The Workflow Design Workshop, will teach you about design principles, collecting user requirements, sketching, and more. I show you how to start building a good design, step by step.
A few things about me…
I live in Toronto, Canada, with my husband, three almost-grown kids, and two dogs.
I have a degree in Music Performance from the University of Toronto. My instrument is the cello, and I still play regularly.
I speak fluent English, French, and Italian, and have done FileMaker presentations in each of these languages.
